Dr. Sasha Carsen is an orthopedic surgeon with a focus on pediatric, adolescent, and young adult sports medicine. He maintains a full-time clinical practice at CHEO, serves as a consultant at the Ottawa Hospital, and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Ottawa. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively engaged in research and academic teaching.
Dr. Carsen completed his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario and earned his medical degree from McGill University. He trained in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Ottawa before completing subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Harvard University and Boston Children’s Hospital, followed by further fellowship training in Pediatric Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia and BC Children’s Hospital.
He is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine group, and the Canadian Pediatric Orthopaedic Study Group. His practice focuses on pediatric and young adult sports medicine as well as the full spectrum of pediatric orthopedics.
