Dr. Christian Anderson is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and hip. His expertise includes the treatment of ligament, meniscal, and cartilage injuries of the knee, patellar instability, femoroacetabular impingement and hip labrum injuries, as well as shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, and glenoid labral injuries.
He performs a wide range of advanced procedures, including growth plate–sparing pediatric ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair and transplantation, cartilage restoration techniques, MPFL reconstruction, multiligamentous knee reconstruction, hip labral repair and reconstruction, gluteal repair, rotator cuff repair, and shoulder labral repair.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Dr. Anderson earned his medical degree and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University, followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at Stanford Sports Medicine Center. During his fellowship, he served as a team physician for Stanford University athletics and the San Francisco 49ers, including coverage during Super Bowl XLVII. He now serves as a team physician for Tennessee Tech University and several local high schools.
Dr. Anderson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), where he has served on the Council of Delegates. He is on the editorial board of the American Journal of Sports Medicine and reviews for several leading journals and research foundations. Recognized as a “Leader to Know” by Becker’s Healthcare and a multi-year Nashville “Top Doctor,” he has authored more than 30 scientific publications and book chapters.
He is a member of the Pediatric ACL Understanding Treatment Options (PLUTO) group and the Research on Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Knee (ROCK) study group. In addition, Dr. Anderson is an innovator in orthopaedic device development, holding multiple U.S. and international patents.
Originally from Nashville, he enjoys time with his family, traveling, hunting, fly fishing—where he holds three International Game and Fish World Records—and pursuing photography as an internationally published artist.
