Kathryn Bauer, MD

Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon

Children's Medical Center Plano

Dr. Kathryn Bauer is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, specializing in sports injuries, minimally invasive arthroscopy, and fracture stabilization. She also has expertise in treating angular limb deformities, benign bone lesions, and leg length discrepancies with lengthening procedures.

Dr. Bauer earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. She went on to complete two fellowships: an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the University of Missouri and a pediatric orthopedic fellowship at the Orthopedic Institute for Children in affiliation with UCLA. During her fellowship training, she served as team physician for multiple Mizzou sports teams and for the Truman State University football program.

Her clinical focus includes advanced procedures such as meniscus transplants and cartilage restoration techniques that help preserve joints in young athletes and delay or prevent the need for joint replacement. In addition to her medical career, Dr. Bauer has served as a second lieutenant in the Texas State Guard Medical Brigade, supporting public health authorities during crises, and was recognized with the Humanitarian Service Award for her work during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys spin classes, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her dogs.
