Dr. Michael Busch is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty certification in sports medicine and one of the first in the nation to develop expertise in pediatric sports medicine. He completed his residency at Northwestern University, fellowship training at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and a six-month traveling fellowship in sports medicine.

Dr. Busch is the founder and Surgical Director of the Sports Medicine Program at Children’s and serves as Director of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship Program. Actively engaged in education and research, he lectures nationally and internationally and is a founding member of the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine (PRiSM) organization, where he serves on the Board of Directors. He is also a consulting associate for the Duke University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

His clinical interests include cartilage preservation, ligament reconstruction, and treatment of sports injuries such as patellar instability and osteochondritis of the knee, ankle, and elbow. In addition to his work with athletes, he has applied advanced arthroscopic techniques to improve joint outcomes for patients with hemophilia, serving on national committees and boards to advance care for this community. He is currently President of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Busch enjoys wake surfing, golfing, and spending time with his family.
