Dr. Kevin Latz is Program Director of Community Orthopedics in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. He is also an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Latz specializes in pediatric orthopedics, musculoskeletal oncology, and sports medicine. His clinical expertise spans fracture care, sports-related injuries, trauma, and complex reconstructive procedures in children and adolescents. Passionate about helping young athletes, he is committed to restoring mobility and enabling children to safely return to the activities they love.

Dr. Latz earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center and completed residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He pursued fellowship training in orthopedic trauma at St. Gallen General Hospital in Switzerland, pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and sports medicine at Boston University Medical Center/Children’s Hospital Boston.

Recognized by patients and peers for his compassionate care, Dr. Latz combines surgical expertise with an individualized, patient-centered approach. His academic contributions include research, teaching, and education of future orthopedic surgeons, while his leadership at Children’s Mercy advances comprehensive musculoskeletal care across the Kansas City region.
