Kevin G. Shea, MD, is the Chambers-Okamura Endowed Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Stanford University, where he serves as Vice Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery for Research, Director of Pediatric Sports Medicine, and Assistant Surgeon-in-Chief for Quality and Supply Chain Management at Stanford Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Shea earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from UCLA, followed by an orthopaedic residency at the University of Utah. He completed fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedics at Rady Children’s Hospital–San Diego, as well as advanced international training in hip, trauma, and sports surgery in Bern, Switzerland, Ilizarov training in Lecco, Italy, and the AOSSM South American Traveling Fellowship.

A founding member of the PRiSM Society, the ROCK Study Group, and the SCORE registry, Dr. Shea has authored more than 270 scientific papers and book chapters. His clinical and research interests focus on ACL injuries, osteochondritis dissecans, cartilage and meniscus injuries, surgical simulation, and growth plate–sparing techniques. He is also recognized nationally for his leadership in healthcare quality, safety, performance improvement, and supply chain integration.

Dr. Shea has held numerous leadership positions, including service on the Board of Directors and Presidential line of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), where he will serve as President in 2024. His work has been recognized with awards for excellence in teaching, clinical care, and research.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Shea is an avid cyclist, trail runner, and hiker, and enjoys spending time outdoors with his partner, Lonnie, and their children, Beck and Cooper.
