Scottish Rite for Children Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center

Dr. Henry Ellis is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, hip disorders, and fracture care. He serves as Medical Director of Clinical Research and Program Director of the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Scottish Rite for Children, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

A graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Dr. Ellis completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at UT Southwestern, where he was elected Chief Resident and received the W. Brandon Carrell Distinguished Physician Award. He went on to complete fellowships in pediatric orthopedics at the Hospital for Sick Children at the University of Toronto and in sports medicine at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado.

Dr. Ellis is an active leader in pediatric sports medicine research. He developed and secured funding for SCORE, a multicenter registry studying complications in pediatric arthroscopy, and participates in numerous collaborative research initiatives through the Hip and Sports Medicine Centers for Excellence at Scottish Rite. He has also worked with athletes at all levels, including high schools, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, and professional teams such as the Dallas Stars and Mavericks. Beyond his clinical and academic work, he volunteers annually with adolescent amputees on adaptive skiing trips.
